Position Summary The Accounting Clerk provides essential day-to-day support to the Finance department by processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the team with data entry, reconciliations, and reporting. This is a part-time role well suited to a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in accuracy and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable and Receivable Process accounts payable transactions accurately and on schedule Record and manage all accounts receivable activity including cash receipts Correspond with internal staff and third-party vendors regarding AP and AR matters Allocate monthly benefit invoices to appropriate cost centers Reconciliation and Reporting Prepare credit card reconciliation worksheets for cardholders and verify receipts against statements and allocations Download deposits and disbursements for cash flow tracking Run monthly Budget to Actual reports in support of Finance Team meetings and department distribution Financial System Administration Import recurring journal entries into Financial Edge Import Salesforce donation batches and download cash receipts reports Enter employee salary allocations for Releases Deposit cash receipts in accordance with organizational procedures Audit and Compliance Support Maintain department files, records, and documentation in an organized and audit-ready manner Support annual audit and tax return preparation processes Provide data and financial analysis as requested by the Senior Accounting Manager, Senior Director of Finance, or CFO General Support Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned by finance leadership Contribute to process improvement efforts as the organization grows and systems evolve Qualifications: Required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a closely related role Solid understanding of general bookkeeping and accounting principles, including AP and AR processing Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word Working knowledge of financial accounting software or ERP systems Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Associate degree or coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance Experience with Financial Edge (Blackbaud) or Salesforce Prior experience in a nonprofit finance environment Familiarity with fund accounting or grant-based financial reporting Racial Equity Competencies The ACLU of Southern California is committed to advancing racial equity within our organization and in the communities we serve.
