Position Summary
The Pastry Cook is responsible for supporting the daily production and preparation of high-quality pastries, breads, desserts, and specialty confections for restaurant and banquet operations. This position assists with dessert preparation, plating, presentation, hotel amenities, and special occasion offerings while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, breads, cakes, cookies, pies, and desserts.
- Prepare pastry creams, fillings, frostings, sauces, and other dessert components.
- Decorate, finish, and plate desserts according to hotel and presentation standards.
- Follow recipes, production schedules, and quality standards to ensure consistency.
- Prepare and organize ingredients and equipment for daily pastry production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared products.
- Monitor baking times, temperatures, portion sizes, and product quality.
- Assist with banquet, restaurant, hotel amenity, and special occasion pastry needs.
- Help minimize food waste and maintain proper inventory levels.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Work closely with the Pastry Chef and culinary team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist with seasonal menus and new pastry creations when requested.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous pastry or baking experience in a hotel, restaurant, bakery, or professional kitchen preferred.
- Knowledge of basic pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes and production instructions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to safely operate ovens, mixers, and other pastry equipment.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and take on new responsibilities.
