Quality Engineer (Transportation Technology / ITS)

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Department: Project Management / Engineering

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to support transportation technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects in the Los Angeles area. This role will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, clients, and field personnel to ensure system quality, successful deployments, and timely project execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience in quality assurance, system testing, project coordination, and cross-functional communication within transportation, transit, payment systems, or technology environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance and system validation activities for transportation technology and ITS projects.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and system verification procedures.
  • Identify, document, track, and resolve defects and system issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project deliverables, schedules, and testing milestones to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support field testing, deployment activities, and system integration efforts.
  • Maintain detailed documentation including test reports, issue logs, project status updates, and quality records.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding quality status, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and system reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and applicable industry regulations.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis during implementation and post-deployment phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in both office and field environments.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, QA Testing, Project Coordination, or related technical/project roles.
  • Experience supporting transportation systems, transit technology, ITS, fare collection, open payment systems, or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of software/system testing methodologies and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in fast-paced project environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with project tracking or QA tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • PMP, CAPM, ISTQB, or other related certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to travel locally within the Los Angeles area as needed.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with transit agencies, transportation infrastructure, or public sector projects.
  • Knowledge of contactless payment systems, EMV/open payment, AFC (Automatic Fare Collection), or mobility technology.
  • Familiarity with system integration testing and deployment coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English and Korean
