Veterinary Assistant

VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant (VA) to complement our talented team in Woodland Hills, California. The position is in our Surgery Department, full-time, 10-hour shifts 4 days/week, with the flexibility to work at least one weekend shift.

The hourly range for this position is $24-$35 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years experience

• Ability to navigate high paced workflow with a sense of urgency

• Exceptional interpersonal skills

• Able to be part of a collaborative team-oriented environment

• Comfortable to ask for help & clarification when needed

• Posses a high attention to detail

• Able to perform skills including:      

  • Venipuncture

  • Catheter placement

  • Radiology & CT

  • Anesthesia set up & monitoring

  • Knowledge of surgical protocols & procedures

  • Patient Assessment

  • Laboratory processing

  • Pharmacy

  • Patient recovery

  • Bandage and cast placement
