Position Summary The Production Floater provides flexible support across multiple departments within the manufacturing facility, including shipping, receiving, and production areas. This role assists with the safe and efficient movement, storage, and delivery of materials, ensuring smooth workflow between departments. The Production Floater operates forklifts and other powered equipment to load, unload, transport, and organize materials as needed while maintaining accurate records and adhering to all safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Using forklift, empties scrap and trash hoppers during shift.
- Keep pallets full and brought in for Selection at Marpack.
- Bring corrugated boxes and supplies from warehouse to Selection lines as needed.
- Anytime Kiln goes down they assist at Kiln exit with the operators (fill-in support).
- Fills in on production lines as necessary.
- Completes forklift safety book daily per shift.
- Keep batteries charged and checks water levels.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Performs general laborer duties including, but not limited to, cleaning and organizing, plant areas and office facilities. Â
- Cleans assigned areas per cleaning schedule, including restrooms, locker rooms, plant areas, offices, etc.
- Dispose of trash receptacles around the facility.Â
- Moves, lifts, and organizes items as necessary to achieve job duties.
- Performs other general laborer duties to support manufacturing operations.
- Comply with safety regulations (OSHA and Company) and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed. Â
- Move products from staging or storage areas into trucks or production lines as required.
- Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, or other power equipment safely and efficiently for loading, unloading, stacking, and staging materials.
- Use radio frequency (RF) scanners or automated systems for picking, receiving, and inventory tracking.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and minor maintenance on forklifts or related machinery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
- Assist other departments as needed to support production flow and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production efficiency, quality, and safety.
Qualifications - Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum of 1 year of forklift or warehouse experience preferred.
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Basic computer and inventory system skills required.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to perform physical labor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Physical Demands - Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Regularly lifts and moves materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Operates forklifts requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Required to climb ladders, access docks, and work on or around elevated platforms.
- Exposure to moderate loud industrial noise, temperature variations, and dust typical of a tile manufacturing environment.
- Must always wear required PPE, including safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, cut resistant sleeves, and safety shoes (steel or composite).
Work Environment The Production Floater works in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, providing support across multiple departments, including production, shipping, and receiving. This role involves exposure to heat, dust, and moderate to loud noise levels typical of a tile manufacturing facility. Employees may be required to work around moving machinery, forklifts, conveyors, and automated equipment, as well as handle various materials throughout the plant. The pace is fast and requires attention to detail, situational awareness, and strict adherence to safety policies and procedures. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, cut-resistant sleeves, and safety shoes must be worn at all times. |
