The Quality Engineering Technician II is responsible for Auditing processes and products as applicable and measuring product with instruments, coordinate measuring machine (CMM)/Scanner, etc. This role also supports incoming testing, inspection, and verification of parts or materials, including inventory transactions in GP, ERP, and QA Hold dispositioning responsibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities List the job’s essential or most important functions and responsibilities. Include all important aspects for the job whether performed daily weekly, monthly, or annually and any that occur at irregular intervals. Measure Products using GD&T on prints to develop programs to measure parts quickly and accurately on a Keyence CMM/Scanner (ie XM5000). To also utilize other measuring devices to measure parts to support PPAP’s or investigations. Support the nonconforming supplier part disposition process by measuring parts, logging, tracking, and issuing Return Material Authorizations (RMA) requests, including supplier approval, and return packaging to ensure safe return to appropriate supplier Perform Audits of Processes and Final Inspection in the Fabrication and Trailer Departments. Provide feedback on delinquent RMA’s to ensure a satisfactory supplier response. Input data into the Supplier Quality Portal for PPM and scorecard performance reporting, if requested. Manage GP and ERP inventory transactions for QAHOLD, quality, and warranty cost reporting. Apply engineering and quality methodologies to support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new part sample submissions. Publish nonconformance reports for fabricated parts, trailers, and engines as well as conduct a daily MRB meeting with operations management. Manage the Lab and Quarantine areas for 5S, replacement spare parts for internal scrap repairs, and overall organization. Provide Support: Plant calibration program (includes all gages, jigs, fixtures, etc.) Performing and document internal audits and inspections Testing, and/or rework of internal scrap for defects, as well as mechanical, or electronic part failures. Analysis of returned plant and field warranty parts for root cause and corrective actions. A full understanding of Drawing requirements including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), per ASME Y14.5. A knowledge of Gage R&R & Statistical Process Controls i.e. Cpk. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables Other Qualifications: Include Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and other skills/abilities/qualifications not listed above. GD&T (ASME Y14.5) PPAP, Gage R&R, & SPC Six Sigma training is a plus. Strong corrective action and troubleshooting background. Strong computer knowledge and skills. Print/Drawing reading skills. Additional Preferred Skills and Experience: General ABYC and compliance knowledge, ASME Y.15 Training, PPAP, Gage R&R, Cpk, Six Sigma & Lean methodology, reporting and presentation skills, data analysis, Auditor skills, computer skills (E.g. Excel, Word, Access, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc), general boating experience is also preferred.
