About the Role

The Property Accountant supports the review and consolidation of financial data from our Senior Housing operators. This role is a great fit for someone who values accuracy, enjoys building relationships, and can manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You will work with internal and external teams to deliver accurate financial reporting that drives informed decision-making and upholds financial integrity. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a primary accounting contact for Senior Housing operators, ensuring timely, accurate reporting while building strong working relationships.

  • Provide operators with guidance on accounting and reporting standards.

  • Review and validate operator financial submissions for accuracy and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.

  • Perform variance and trend analyses to identify discrepancies or unusual activity, coordinating resolution with operators.

  • Prepare and record journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and review bank reconciliations.

  • Ensure adherence to internal control processes and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, tools, and review procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.

  • Work with internal teams such as Accounting, FP&A, Asset Management, and IT to ensure alignment on reporting standards, data accuracy, and system maintenance.

  • Assist with defined projects and initiatives aligned with department goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA license or active pursuit preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP; SOX experience a plus.

  • Proficient in Excel (lookups, data cleaning, PivotTables); Yardi experience a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills, well-organized, and an effective communicator.

  • Able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and a proactive mindset.  

  • Takes ownership and pride in delivering high-quality work.

  • Intellectually curious and eager to learn and contribute.

  • Must be located in Louisville, KY surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.

  • Willingness to adapt and thrive in a blended work environment with 3-days in office, seamlessly transitioning between remote work and in-office operations.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
