About the Role

Job Profile Summary
As a Test Engineer I at Sierra Space, you will begin your career by contributing to the testing and validation of aerospace systems and components. This entry-level role provides an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within a supportive team environment. You will assist in the planning, execution, and documentation of verification and validation activities, working closely with more experienced engineers and multi-disciplinary teams.

In this role, you will assist in the planning, conducting, and documenting of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for aerospace systems and components. You will develop a conceptual understanding of engineering principles and practices, applying them to support testing activities while collaborating with multi-disciplinary design and development teams under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure effective system integration and performance. Utilizing schematics, service manuals, test procedures, and logical troubleshooting techniques, you will support testing activities and resolve routine technical problems. You will contribute to the generation and disposition of product non-conformances, ensuring adherence to Product and Quality Assurance principles, and help develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity by leveraging familiarity with engineering and testing principles. Following instructions from senior engineers, you will work collaboratively within the team to achieve project goals and milestones. Additionally, you will prepare and document test data, reports, and technical information to support project initiatives and team decision-making, while clearly communicating technical concepts and information both verbally and in writing to team members and senior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).

  • Typically entry-level with 0 - 2 years of experience.

  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams. Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.

  • Familiarity with requirements management, system design, and systems integration. Exposure to planning, conducting, and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.

  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and exposure to generation and disposition of product non-conformances.

  • Familiarity with schematics, service manuals, test procedures, and logical troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with basic engineering software tools and applications related to testing and validation.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply new concepts and methodologies in test engineering.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in aerospace engineering.

  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively convey basic technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to routine technical solutions.

 

 

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$73,175.00 - $100,615.25

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
