A Day in the Life 

 

As a Clinical Therapist in our Foster Care & Adoption program, you'll provide compassionate, trauma-informed therapy to children and families while helping them navigate challenges and achieve lasting stability. Your day may include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating individual and family therapy sessions, collaborating with foster care professionals, and providing clinical guidance and training to support quality care and positive outcomes.

 

How This Position Contributes to our Mission 

  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessments, and individualized treatment plans for children from infancy through age 21
  • Provide individual, family, and collateral therapy to children in foster care, biological and foster families, and families receiving post-adoption services
  • Participate in monthly client chart reviews to ensure services and documentation meet best practice and regulatory standards
  • Offers clinical guidance and training to staff, clients and Teaching parents on issues related to trauma-informed care, and meeting the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children in care
  • Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills

 

Clinical Therapist Skills and Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a Human services field (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.) is required
  • Active Kentucky clinical license or associate license (CSW, LCSW, LPCA, LPCC, LMFTA, LMFT, or equivalent)
  • Valid driver's license, insurable driving record and reliable transportation required
  • Experience working with children/family services within the previous two years
  • Extensive knowledge of family systems, dynamics of domestic violence, substance misuse, child abuse, parenting, child development or the cycle of violence required
  • Must possess strong crisis intervention skills and have firm knowledge of reporting laws
  • Experience working with recovery-based treatment plans and behaviorally oriented programs preferred
