Job DetailsJob Location: New Bedford - Hyannis, MA 02601Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $76.00 - $87.00 HourlyOur organization is seeking a dedicated and autonomous Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide high-quality, skilled interventions within the home health setting. Reporting to the Supervising Occupational Therapist and Clinical Manager of Therapies, you will play a critical role in executing personalized treatment plans that empower patients to improve their quality of life and functional independence within their own homes. SUMMARY AND OVERALL OBJECTIVES: The occupational therapy assistant is responsible for providing skilled interventions within the patients home, while adhering to the treatment plan as written and established in the plan of care by the overseeing occupational therapist. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Current Massachusetts Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) License Required Certification is maintained by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. Associates Degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Maintains educational competency as required by state and federal regulations Valid license, registration, and certification to practice in the states of agency operation Must possess and maintain valid CPR certification Must pass a background check Must be a licensed driver with a reliable and insured vehicle in accordance with state and/or organization requirements 2 years experience as an occupational therapy assistant (preferred) 1-2 years working as an occupational therapy assistant in the home health setting (Required) RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Understands and adheres to the home health agency policies and procedures Collaborates with home care personnel and other medical disciplines involved in patient care planning Maintains open communication with the interdisciplinary team Performs all skilled procedures as ordered by the physician and according to the plan of care established by the OT Follows the written plan of care and reports to the occupational therapist for clarification as needed Consults with OT regarding change in patients mental and/or physical status if any Instructs, educates and/or trains patients, family members and or caregivers as applicable Attends patient care conferences, staff meetings and in-services as scheduled Collaborates with supervising OT on a weekly basis regarding scheduling needs as needed Performs skilled OT interventions/services as described in the written plan of care established by the supervising OT Completes clinical documentation for each visit within 24 hours Ability to problem solve, respond to urgent situations appropriately, display good insight, judgment and safety in order to provide adequate care to all patients Ability to identify the need for patients to receive emergency services and assist with seeking out services as needed Responsible for notifying the occupational therapist and the scheduler of absences due to illness, emergency leave, vacation or professional meetings that may affect patient service. Qualifications SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/EQUIPMENT TO BE OPERATED: Must have a car with required insurance coverage and a state driver’s license. Office equipment: phone, computer, printer, copy machine, and OT rehab assistive devices. Proper use of recommended therapy equipment including DME, AE, assistive technology. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to travel as needed to get to and from patients homes. Work office space provided in New Bedford and Hyannis with computer and office supplies available. FUNCTIONAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours as needed to fulfill job demands. Able to lift, turn, and transfer patients weighing up to 150+ pounds. Able to carry weighted items upstairs weighing up to 10 - 15 pounds. Ability to work 8 + hour shifts as scheduled.
