Job Description:

The Radiology Nurse provides safe and effective nursing care in the Imaging Department which includes pre-, intra-, & post operative care. The Radiology Nurse supports the mission of the hospital by assisting in the delivery of quality patient care while in the Diagnostic Imaging Department.


Provides medication and patient monitoring during conscious sedation within the Imaging department.

Assists with scheduling of invasive procedures. 

Assists and monitors patient flow in the Diagnostic Imaging department.

Performs sterile prep prior to invasive procedures.

Screens patients prior to invasive procedures to include lab values, contrast allergies, etc. 

Prepares medications and intravenous contrast according to hospital and department protocols. 

Monitors patient condition throughout invasive procedures. 

Sets up sterile trays for invasive procedures.

Performs pre and post procedure patient education. 

Documents patient care information according to hospital protocol.

Responds to emergencies within the department. 

Performs venipuncture as needed throughout the department. 

Assists in orienting new or temporary nursing staff to their respective duties.

Assist with performance improvement activities in the department. 

Maintains appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice and ensures current copy is on file with the hospital/department. 

Attends and participates in department meetings.

Displays a positive and supportive image of the hospital and department.

Performs other duties as assigned.
