Role Overview

Beehive Industries is looking for an energetic and driven Lead Engineer to lead the compressor aero design, analysis, and development of a novel compressor design utilizing new technologies.  This role will partner with hardware owners and various cross-functional leadership on a daily basis to develop and deliver of the overall engine performance for customers.


What You'll Do...

  • Execute the aerodynamic design, analysis, and evaluation of a centrifugal compressor using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements
  • Expertise delivering aerodynamic solutions using 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D tools with gas turbines.  Experience in evaluating tip leakages, end wall contouring, and designing for secondary flow and cooling features
  • Lead component and system trades from an aerodynamic perspective.  Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to execute component validation
  • Serve as the aerodynamic design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team.  Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall requirements from a design perspective.  Advocate for component durability while understanding the trade-offs and business decisions necessary to deliver the best overall solution.  Coordinate with other analysis engineers and hardware owners to optimize the overall system to meet product requirements.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Lead methodologies to develop new technologies to optimize the overall aerodynamic performance of a gas turbine with additive manufacturing.  Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. 
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices
  • Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues

You have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • At least 8+ years of experience in gas turbine "centrifugal and axial” design experience
  • Strong understanding of design software tools
  • Experience working with gas turbines for aviation product applications from a mechanical and aero design perspective
  • Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles
  • Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills
  • Proven self-starter and quick learner
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issues security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $170,000-$196,000 base salary.  Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
