Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Restaurant Manager JOB SUMMARY The Host/Hostess is responsible for providing a warm and welcoming experience for guests as they enter the restaurant. This role supports the team by managing reservations, seating guests, and ensuring a smooth flow of service, contributing to the overall operations of the hotel's restaurant. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS Operational Responsibilities Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables. Manage reservations and seating arrangements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host/hostess stand and entrance area. Guest Services Provide excellent customer service and respond to guest inquiries. Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly. Ensure guest satisfaction by accommodating special requests. Team Support and Training Assist in training new hosts/hostesses as needed. Support team performance by collaborating with colleagues. Communication and Reporting Communicate effectively with the restaurant manager and other staff. Report any incidents or safety concerns immediately. Safety & Compliance Follow all hotel policies and procedures. Adhere to safety standards and maintain a safe working environment. QualificationsESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective time management and problem-solving skills Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities Previous experience in a host/hostess or customer service role is preferred Physical Requirements Sitting: Occasional Standing/Walking: Frequent, including standing for long periods Lifting/Carrying: Up to 25 lbs, such as menus and supplies Other Physical Requirements: Handling, grasping, and crouching as needed Working Environment Interior: Restaurant dining area and entrance BASICS Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas Display courteous behavior with guests and team members Report any unsafe conditions immediately Ensure restaurant equipment is in proper working condition Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience in a host/hostess or customer service role is a plus
