Fab Operator – 2nd Shift – Lucas, KS

 

Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg, is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Fabrication Operator for our facility in Lucas, KS. 

 

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 p.m to 3:00 a.m with overtime on Fridays as required. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Set up, tend and operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, roller, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, punch machines, laser cutting, CNC plasma; that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, template, or computer program. 
  • Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction and report as needed.
  • Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces.
  • Assist machine operators to set up machine, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
  • Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment. 
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of laser, saw, punch press and press brake operations 
  • Understanding of product structure and usage of AS400 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude 
  • Ability to verify conformance of machined work piece to specifications  
  • Dedication to ensure products meet or exceed specifications as part of our quality program 
  • Must be flexible to be crossed trained in different areas of the shop as required
