Position Summary

The Crisis Response Team Coordinator will supervise mobile crisis teams responding to individuals experiencing an acute crisis in the community. This position will supervise a multi-disciplinary team of approximately ten clinicians, including QMHP, QMHP-E, LMHP-E, and LMHP staff. The Crisis Response Team Coordinator will assist the Clinical Director in the development of community mobile response programming. It is preferred that this position has experience with providing crisis services to individuals.

Required Education and Experience

  • 60-hour Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field and licensure in the State of Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Types of Experience Three years of relevant clinical experience, including at least 2 years of experience working with persons with serious mental illness. Experience must also include at least 1 year of supervisory experience in a mental health setting.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of behavior modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; substance abuse interventions; etc.; Excellent clinical judgment and the ability to make quick clinically sound decisions for crisis situations, for children and youth 18 and under. Knowledge of clinical supervision requirements and techniques. Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources. Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.

Ability to effectively manage employee performance, communicate expectations and objectively rate performance of assigned employees. Ability to analyze situations accurately and develop appropriate responses or techniques. Ability to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to develop reports, create presentations and communicate findings to both internal and external audiences. Ability to address performance concerns in a constructive manner. Ability to manage a budget and stay within budget expectations.

Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites. Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training.
