Salary and rank will correspond to experience and educational credentials. The DPT Program is part of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences with opportunities for interprofessional experiences with a variety of other health science programs. The program is housed in the Graduate Health Sciences Building with more than 37,000 square feet dedicated to physical therapy instruction, service, and research. The curriculum features an innovative model of instruction that prepares student physical therapists to become generalist practitioners who become leaders in the profession. Clinical practice is promoted among faculty and opportunities exist within the onsite free clinic. The Program received initial accreditation in 2013 and is scheduled for re-review in 2028. Specific Job Duties: Teaching courses in the DPT Program Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, supervising student research projects, service to the University and community, and engaging in scholarly activity Applying best practices to facilitate teaching and learning processes and principles with a commitment to continuous quality improvement Documenting student learning, interpreting outcomes, and recording grades Assisting with student recruitment, admission, and retention Maintaining accurate and appropriate student, instructor, course, and program documentation Establishing and maintaining professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and others in all learning environments Participating in University service and events Perform other responsibilities that may be assigned by the DPT Program Director and Dean School of Medicine and Health Sciences Benefits: Generous sick time and family leave, comprehensive insurance (medical, dental, vision, etc.) and retirement plans, flexible spending account, tuition remission, life and long-term disability insurance, and more. Salary: $85,000-$100,000 Physical Demands: Prolonged periods standing or sitting, typical physical demands of a physical therapist in a clinical setting. Position Description: The DPT at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time (12 month) tenure track or non-tenure track assistant/associate professor level faculty position to begin during the Summer or Fall of 2026. Individuals with a terminal academic degree may be eligible for tenure track QualificationsRequired Qualifications/Education: For individuals with a terminal academic degree (e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc, or DHSc), at least a Master’s degree in physical therapy is required; candidates approaching completion of a terminal academic degree may also be considered For individuals without a terminal academic degree, a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and an APTA Specialist Certification (governed by ABPTS) is required; highly qualified individuals eligible to sit for APTA Specialist Certification may also be considered Experience teaching entry-level content to DPT students A minimum of three years of contemporary physical therapy clinical practice Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia licensure is required within one year of employment) A scholarly agenda that contributes to teaching and/or practice The ability and credentials to teach courses related to neuromuscular practice Work Remotely: No Candidates may show interest in this position by submitting to the Human Resources Jobs Page.
