Job Summary

  1. Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform the required welding on all equipment at the mine. 
  2. Perform preventive maintenance and catastrophic failure repair. 

Special Skills or Qualifications Required

  1. Must have at least 5 years of experience in welding and repair of heavy diesel equipment and experience in hard surfacing and repair of ground engaging tools at a surface coal mine. 
  2. Must have the ability to do the following:

                - Weld in all positions (horizontal, vertical and overhead).

                - Properly use a torch, air arc, stick weld, and wire weld.

        - Have a working knowledge of MIG and TIG units and the different types of metals associated with mining equipment.                             

  1. Ability to perform line bore repairs with NO quality issues to include:

ID cutting of blades, buckets, D11 frames, dump bodies, etc.

Face cutting/grinding

Track frame bores and swing bosses

  1. Large dragline repair experience is preferred.
  2. Must have basic math skills. 
  3. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  4. Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Expectations

  1. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  2. Must be able to communicate and coordinate with co-workers and supervisors.
  3. Must follow Company, State and Federal regulations, plans and policies.
  4. Must have high safety standards for self and others and wear required personal protective equipment.
  5. Must be able to read & understand Material Safety Data Sheets and be able to operate power tools, hand tools, etc. 
  6. Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  1. Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. 
  2. Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
  3. Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
  4. Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift. 
  5. Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination.
  6. Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
  7. Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.
