Job DetailsJob Location: City of Mableton - MABLETON, GA 30126Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $25.00 - $40.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayUnder the direction of the Community Development Director, the Community Development Clerk supports the department's day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include processing permits, managing databases, and coordinating resources while ensuring compliance with city regulations. This role also involves facilitating communication with residents, stakeholders, and city staff, contributing to effective community planning and development. The position requires a solid understanding of land use, and municipal codes, and a commitment to promoting sustainability and inclusivity within the community.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Review and process applications related to building permits, business registrations, subdivision requests, special use permits, variance requests, sign permits, and ensure all applications meet relevant codes, regulations, and standards, and verify their adequacy for approval. Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of Community Development projects, including tasks related to building, planning, redevelopment, economic development, and housing. Coordinate resources for various Community Development functions, determining both short-term and long-term project needs. Serve as a key contact and liaison for community development functions, providing exceptional customer service at the permit counter, over the phone, and via email. Process financial transactions, including business registrations, permit fees, and other payments. Balance cash drawers, reconcile receipts, and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with City policies. Assist with the input and verification of purchase requisitions and invoices. Conduct research and compile data related to Community Development projects and activities. Prepare detailed reports, memos, and presentations on development issues, compliance, and trends for City boards, commissions, and public meetings. Manage and administer databases used in community development, including data entry, report generation, and system updates. Analyze user needs and modify database structures as required, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.    QualificationsRequired Qualifications High School diploma/GED or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma Two (2) years of professional, verifiable general office experience Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of office practices and procedures, including records management and billing procedures. Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and digital form systems. Ability to enter and retrieve data accurately into city databases and permit systems. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff, applicants, and the public. Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree. Experience working in a local government setting. Familiarity with permitting and licensing software
