Job DetailsJob Location: City of Mableton - MABLETON, GA 30126Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $25.00 - $40.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayUnder the direction of the Business License Manager, the Community Development Clerk performs a wide range of administrative and clerical duties supporting business licensing, permitting, and planning and zoning functions. This position serves as the initial point of contact for customers, applicants, and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities include processing applications, maintaining accurate records, coordinating interdepartmental reviews, and providing consistent customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries related to business licenses, permits, and planning/zoning applications. Receive and process business license applications, renewals, and related documentation. Review incoming permitting applications for completeness and accuracy before routing to appropriate staff. Coordinate zoning verifications and approvals related to business license and permit issuance. Provide administrative support for the review and scheduling of planning and zoning requests such as variances and special land use permits. Maintain digital and physical records for business licenses, permits, zoning cases, and applications in accordance with city retention policies. Respond to open records requests related to business licensing, permitting, and zoning matters. Provide accurate fee calculations and process payments via city-approved systems. Support coordination of inspections and compliance documentation as required. Assist in the preparation of reports, mailings, and notices for public hearings and license renewals. Communicate effectively with the public, business owners, contractors, and internal departments to ensure transparency and accuracy. Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential. QualificationsRequired Qualifications High School diploma/GED or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma Two (2) years of professional, verifiable general office experience Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of office practices and procedures, including records management and billing procedures. Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and digital form systems. Ability to enter and retrieve data accurately into city databases and permit systems. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff, applicants, and the public. Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Punctuality and regular attendance are essential. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree. Experience working in a local government setting. Familiarity with permitting and licensing software
