Job DetailsJob Location: City of Mableton - MABLETON, GA 30126Salary Range: $25.00 - $40.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayPosition Summary:  The City of Mableton is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Help Desk Support Technician to provide first-level technical support to city staff and departments. The ideal candidate will assist in resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring timely and professional service in accordance with city policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   Serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking technical assistance via phone, email, or in person. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and basic networking. Log, track, and update help desk tickets using the city’s ticketing system. Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.  Escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.  Support the setup of new user accounts, email, and permissions in systems such as Google Workspace.  Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and technical support processes.  Provide on-site support at city offices and facilities as needed.  Assist with inventory management of IT equipment and peripherals. Ensure adherence to IT security policies and data protection protocols.  Assist in managing the city’s Meraki network system, including monitoring connectivity and troubleshooting issues.  Provide support for the Verkada security system, including user management, access control, and camera monitoring.  QualificationsMinimum Qualifications  High school diploma or equivalent.  2-5 years of experience in a technical support, help desk, or IT-related role.  Basic understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and networking. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in Information Technology or related field.  Experience with Google Workspace, Windows OS, and common office applications.  Knowledge of IT Support best practices and ticketing systems. Within one year of employment must possess and maintain CompTIA A+ or similar Certification  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Knowledge of PC software and hardware.  Knowledge of proper software installation and configuration.  Knowledge of endpoint (PC’s) operating system software. Skill in understanding a customer’s issue and working through the issue.  Skill in computers and all job-related software. Skill in interpersonal relations. Skill in problem solving. Skill in basic troubleshooting. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.  Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides. Ability to work within confined spaces such as wiring and equipment rooms. Ability to conduct research into PC and software issues and products as required. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Ability for sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.  Must possess a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and pass drug test. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. Commitment to providing excellent customer service. Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office environment with occasional travel between city facilities. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends for maintenance or support.
