Job Summary:

Perform inspections of injection molded and machined products for defects and deviations from specifications. Responsible for auditing incoming materials and components, utilizing provided tools. Auditing the Quality Management System to ensure Clayens is meeting the ISO 9001 Standard. Accountable for communicating with all levels of the plant with regards to the status of nonconforming parts. Adheres to all plant and OSHA safety policies and regulations.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

•    None


Duties/Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•    Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) per customer, industry (e.g., AS9102), and internal requirements.

•    Prepare, review, and maintain PPAP documentation including dimensional results, control plans, process flow diagrams, and material certifications.

•    Identifies, communicates, labels, and properly segregates products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications. 

•    Analyzes and interprets drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required. 

•    Relays inspection results to Supervisors, Managers and Production Associates.

•    Notifies supervisors and other personnel of production problems and 

•    Records inspection of test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities. 

•    Monitors production output to ensure conformance to specifications.

•    Notifies production of any out of specification conditions and assists in identifying and correcting these problems.

•    Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers. 

•    Responsible for printing labels, applying labels to packaging and controlling labels.

•    Performs duties with little or no supervision.


Qualifications and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •    High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).

•    Minimum of 2 years Production knowledge in Manufacturing The ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications and technical materials.

•    The ability to work effectively with coworkers in a team environment.

•    Ability to use hand held measuring devices.

•    Critical Thinking; Complex Problem Solving; and, Verbal and Written Communication.

•    Background ISO9001 environment preferred. Similar quality system experience such as AS9100, ISO13485 or IATF16949 welcome.

•    Computer experience with Windows environment and MS Office Suite. 

•    English language proficiency, to include verbal and written communication.

•    Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings.


Physical Requirements: 

•    Standing for prolonged periods of time during 8-12-hour shifts.

•    Lifting up to 50lbs.
