Job Description:

Position Overview

The Stetson-Hatcher School of Business is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and creative Graduate Assistant to support both daily operational functions and social media/communications efforts. This dual-role position provides hands-on experience in higher education administration, marketing, and communications while contributing to the strategic priorities and operational efficiency of the School of Business.

The Graduate Assistant will work closely with School of Business leadership, faculty, staff, and student interns to support administrative operations, event coordination, data management, and social media planning and execution. This role is ideal for a graduate student seeking professional experience at the intersection of operations, marketing, and leadership within an academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Administrative Support

  • Provide daily administrative support to the Director of Operations and Executive Assistant to the Dean, including scheduling, communications, and general office management.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing School of Business events, meetings, workshops, and leadership engagements.
  • Prepare documents, presentations, reports, and correspondence for internal and external use.
  • Manage filing systems, databases, and correspondence tracking to ensure efficient information flow.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting related to strategic initiatives and operational processes.
  • Collaborate across departments on cross-functional projects and special initiatives.
  • Manage special projects as assigned, contributing to continuous process improvement.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for internal and external communications.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of the student and faculty Mentor List.
  • Provide support to the Admissions Office through recruiting activities, including Very Important Bear (VIB) meetings and School of Business tours.

Social Media & Communications Support

  • Support the School of Business’s social media strategy across platforms by managing requests, planning coverage, and maintaining content calendars.
  • Review, provide feedback on, and help guide social media content produced by interns and staff.
  • Assign social media requests to interns and ensure timely, accurate execution.
  • Plan and coordinate social media coverage for School of Business events across the Macon and Atlanta campuses.
  • Fulfill short-notice or time-sensitive social media post requests when needed.
  • Hold social media interns accountable to posting schedules, project deadlines, and engagement responsibilities.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly social media intern meetings and contribute to monthly leadership content reviews.
  • Guide Instagram Reels and short-form video strategy, pitching creative ideas and assisting interns with execution.
  • Track and monitor social media conversations and engagement.
  • Explore and apply social media analytics, in collaboration with analytics interns, to expand reach and tailor content to diverse audiences.
  • Create weekly review presentations and manage team documentation, including internship guides, analytics reports, and testimonial tracking.
  • Gather, review, and submit social media intern timesheets.
  • Research peer institutions, brands, and industry trends to ensure content remains current and relevant.

Qualifications

To qualify for this graduate assistantship, the student must:

  • Be fully admitted and enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate student at Mercer University in an eligible business program (MBA preferred).
  • Maintain a full-time graduate-level course load and good academic standing throughout the appointment.
  • Successfully complete the graduate assistantship application and interview process.
  • Possess strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Show high attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willing to learn new tools and platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in administrative support, operations, marketing, or social media is a plus but not required.

Terms, Conditions & Compensation

  • Hours: 20–25 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules.
  • Duration: Fall 2026 – Summer 2027: 12 credits for Fall and Spring, 6 credits for Summer
  • Compensation:
    • Up to $13 per hour
    • Graduate assistantship package including tuition coverage, required fees, and monthly stipend
