Learning Objectives
By the end of the internship, the intern will be able to:
· Understand and articulate the mission and work of MAHFH.
· Assist with volunteer recruitment, communication, and engagement.
· Support outreach events through planning, logistics, and on-site coordination.
· Use and maintain basic administrative systems, including scheduling, reporting, data entry, and file management.
· Collaborate with staff across departments, including ReStore operations, Construction, Development, Family Services, and Administration.
· Apply professional communication and customer service skills in a nonprofit environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain a consistent work schedule and notify the Outreach Manager of any changes.
2. Be available on occasion to assist with weeknight or weekend events as needed.
3. Dress appropriately and represent MAHFH positively and professionally.
4. Perform work assignments efficiently, accurately, and with attention to detail.
5. Attend key meetings, planning sessions, and training as appropriate.
6. Assist the Outreach Manager in the various functions of the Outreach Department, including responding to inquiries, volunteer recruitment, communications, and report preparation.
7. Support outreach events, including preparation, logistics, setup, and follow-up.
8. Perform data entry, filing, and administrative tasks to support volunteer and outreach tracking.
9. Provide support to the Family Services Manager through organized file management, front desk coverage, and other essential administrative duties.
10. Learn about and assist other departments when needed, including office management, executive administration, ReStore operations, and construction.
11. Maintain confidentiality as directed by the supervisor or department heads.
12. Participate in regular check-in and review sessions to assess progress and learning.
13. Complete any school-required assignments or evaluations related to the internship.
Qualifications
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Organized, reliable, and able to manage time effectively.
· Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Meta, Canva, Wix, and
MailChimp
· Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Interest in nonprofit work, community engagement, or social impact.
· Ability to work outdoors or assist with event logistics as needed.
Expected Outcomes
