Position Summary: The Accessioner/Phlebotomist is responsible for the receiving, sorting, labeling, and the processing of daily specimens that are to be analyzed and reported.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Identify residents correctly per procedure outlined in MediaLab ā153105.635 Proper Patient or Resident Identificationā
- Collect all samples, including blood and swabs (on occasion), with accuracy and efficiency per facility needs.
- Make sure all samples are labeled correctly and reflect what is on the requisition to include all pick-up samples.
- Adhere to all Safety and Health standards while you are working in the facility and or traveling; To include all residents and facilities (PHI and PPE requirements).
- Complete all required documentation within your workday, to include Carevolve orders and accompanying forms as instructed by billing department.
- Check all facility accordions for any add on orders; confirm with nurse and fax to dispatch, if needed.
- Prepare all samples correctly for transport and deliver to laboratory or courier.
- Maintain all communication as directed.
- Maintain a professional persona and dress as set forth by the standards of the company.
- Collaborate with other internal departments as needed.
- Follow instructions and/or other duties as directed by your supervisor.
Education and Experience:
ā¢ High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, required.
ā¢ Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience accessioning specimens, preferred.
ā¢ Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None
ā¢ MUST HAVE Orchard Harvest LIS data entry experience
