Ring & DuChateau is seeking a Building Systems Designer to join our Milwaukee team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-level professional who enjoys designing integrated building systems (telecommunications, overhead paging, intercom, nurse call and access control to name a few) and wants to grow their technical expertise and project responsibility within a collaborative MEP consulting environment.
In this role, you’ll design and coordinate building systems that support safe, connected, and high-performing environments. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and designers from concept through construction, contributing to real projects while continuing to develop your technical and coordination skills.
What You’ll Do
- Design and coordinate integrated building systems, including building technology, life safety, communications, and security systems.
- Translate project requirements into coordinated, code-compliant design solutions.
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and best practices throughout the design process.
- Develop construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Participate in project coordination and BIM meetings with internal teams and external consultants.
- Review product submittals, RFIs, and assist with construction administration activities.
- Conduct site visits and field observations, documenting conditions and supporting design updates.
- Maintain accurate, organized project documentation.
- Support collaboration and knowledge sharing with junior team members, as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–6 years of experience in building systems, MEP, or technology systems design (flexible based on skill set).
- Strong working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience in applying building codes and industry standards to design work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Industry certifications (such as RCDD) are not required but supported as part of professional development.
