Job DetailsJob Location: Madison, NJ 07940Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 Salary/yearPosition Overview BEM Systems, LLC - a nationally recognized environmental consulting and engineering firm with more than three decades of experience - is seeking a motivated Environmental Engineer to support one of our clients as part of their Region’s most diverse, multidisciplinary, and innovative Transportation Design Team. This position will be embedded onsite in New York City (four days per week) within the client’s Civil & Environmental Engineering Unit, a key group within the Engineering/Architecture Design Division. Position Responsibilities: As an Environmental Engineer, you will deliver engineering design and environmental compliance services for projects ranging from routine to moderately complex. You will contribute expertise across a variety of environmental engineering areas, including: Hazardous material surveys, sampling, and abatement design NY/NJ site remediation program oversight Facility environmental compliance (NJPDES/NY-SPDES, stormwater BMPs, SWPPP reviews, field audits, air permitting/reporting, storage tanks, SPCC plans, and more) Stormwater, soil erosion, and sediment control design, including associated permits and field inspections You will also prepare technical reports, engineering drawings, cost estimates, and technical specifications; support environmental permitting and approvals; and produce design documentation in AutoCAD. As the technical lead on assigned projects, you will work closely with internal teams and coordinate with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Additional responsibilities, as assigned QualificationsExperience/Education/Licensing & Certification Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering Minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience in design and/or environmental compliance, including: o NY/NJ remediation projects o Regulatory oversight with agencies such as EPA, NYSDEC, NJDEP, OSHA o Familiarity with NYSDOL/AHERA asbestos abatement requirements Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS Valid driver’s license Desired Qualifications EIT certification and/or progress toward PE licensure Working knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards (e.g., NYSDEC/NJDEP regulations, NEPA/SEQR) Strong problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills Proven ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments across disciplines Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently Proficiency preparing contract documents (drawings and technical specifications) Strong presentation and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint What you will get: This is a full-time, salaried role with compensation commensurate with your experience and expertise.
