Description

SHINE Technologies is on a mission to harness the power of fusion to improve society. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside our engineering team to support the design, modeling, and analysis of mechanical systems used in our neutron generator and medical isotope production facilities. This is a hands-on role where your work directly contributes to technology that helps patients around the world. 


The base salary range for this position is $20.00/hour-$23.00/hour. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and update engineering drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks.
  • Support design and analysis of mechanical components and assemblies, including tolerancing and fit checks.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving assembly issues through design reviews and hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Assist in generating and maintaining engineering documentation.
  • Support prototype fabrication and testing activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and operational teams.
  • Assemble and test mechanical assemblies.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of systems in close collaboration with R&D and Design Engineering teams.
  • Support assembly technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Enrollment in college engineering program. Current enrollment in an accredited      Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design undergraduate program (any year considered) preferred. 
  • Experience with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks strongly preferred
  • Interest in science, physics, electronics, or mechanics.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problem.
  • Experience with high vacuum systems, plasma sources and ion beams preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of tools including standard hand and machine tools, and basic electrical tools preferred.
  • Willingness to contribute in a breadth of areas and roles.
