In this role, you will provide high-quality infusion therapy and skilled nursing care while supporting patients and their families throughout treatment. Job Summary The Infusion Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional nursing care to hospitalized patients receiving infusion therapy and other specialized treatments. This position includes patient assessment, care planning, administration of medications and IV infusions, monitoring patient response to treatment, and educating patients and families on ongoing care. The Infusion Nurse works collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in accordance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Infusion Therapy • Administer IV infusions and prescribed medications according to physician orders and hospital policies • Perform patient assessments and document nursing history using the electronic medical record system • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans and revise as patient conditions change • Monitor patient condition during and after infusion treatments • Select, insert, and manage vascular access devices as appropriate • Utilize ultrasound guidance for peripheral vascular access when needed • Follow Infusion Nurses Society standards and hospital infusion protocols Documentation & Clinical Coordination • Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, and progress in the electronic medical record system • Ensure proper order entry and documentation compliance • Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams • Assist in coordinating nursing and clinical activities to ensure continuity of care Patient Education & Support • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and caregivers • Respect and support the spiritual and cultural needs of patients and families Clinical Operations & Team Support • Maintain infusion room supplies, equipment, and medication inventory • Assist in maintaining high standards of nursing care and patient safety • Provide orientation and guidance to new nursing staff as needed • Participate in nursing meetings, quality improvement activities, and continuing education • Promote a positive, cooperative, and patient-centered environment Qualifications Required: • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing • Current West Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) License • Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles and clinical procedures • Ability to effectively document and manage patient records in an electronic medical record system • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards Preferred: • Experience with infusion therapy or vascular access • Familiarity with infusion protocols and infusion nursing best practices Skills We Value • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills • Excellent communication and patient education abilities • Compassionate bedside manner and patient-centered approach • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team • Strong organizational and documentation skills Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity About Boone Memorial Hospital Boone Memorial Hospital is committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community while supporting a collaborative and professional work environment for our employees.
