Job DetailsJob Location: BMH Medical Clinic B - Madison, WV 25130Position Type: Full TimeBoone Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinical operations. This role is essential to delivering high-quality patient care by assisting providers with examinations, treatments, and daily clinic activities while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulations. Job Summary The Medical Assistant is responsible for managing daily clinic activities and assisting in the examination and treatment of patients, including medical emergencies, under the direction of a licensed medical provider. The MA performs routine clinical and administrative duties to support efficient clinic operations and quality patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Professionally assist providers, staff, visitors, and patients Register patients according to established protocols Maintain and manage patient medical records Provide basic patient care including taking vital signs, applying sterile dressings, and preparing patients for tests and examinations Accurately assess patients and collect medical histories Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist providers during examinations and treatments Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies Perform First Aid as needed Collect and process specimens Perform blood collection procedures Conduct waived laboratory testing to assist with diagnosis and treatment Screen and follow up on patient test results Prepare and administer medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections, including immunizations, as directed Transmit prescription refills as directed by providers Perform EKGs Assist with minor office procedures and surgeries Obtain and document vital signs Administrative and Clerical Responsibilities Complete insurance forms and documentation File and maintain patient medical records Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA Manage inventory and order medical supplies Schedule patient procedures and appointments Follow up on patient visits Update patient charts and documentation Order laboratory tests Assist with patient billing and insurance coordination Manage petty cash as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Effective time management and multitasking abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment Education and Experience High School Diploma required Completion and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days One year of experience with an electronic medical record system preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, squat, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques Ability to perform repetitive movements and maintain coordination for extended periods Supervisory Responsibilities None Travel None expected Additional Information This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
