SUMMARY:

Med/Psych Intake Clinician duties:

    -Evaluate appropriateness/compatibility with PHP vs inpatient level of care

    -Communicate with outpatient providers around clinical concerns and fit

    -Communicate with parents regarding level of care and treatment provided

         -Connect parents with local resources if coming from out of state

         -Compose pre-admission clinical summaries

A Social Worker LSW/Counselor reports to the Manager
of the Department of Social Work and Counseling and Program Clinical
Director/Unit Chief and evaluates and treats a wide range of psychosocial
problems, applying clinical social work skills in order to assist patients and
their families in the resolution of personal and environmental problems
attributed to mental or physical illness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides direct clinical
services to children and families as determined by manager/clinical
director/unit chief.



Provides discharge planning,
case management and acts as community liaison as necessary for children and
families.



Coordinates clinical services
provided with members of the interdisciplinary team.



Completes documentation
according to established policies and procedures.



Participates in service
related meetings including but not limited to: team meetings, rounds, clinical
conferences, community meetings, staff meetings and in-service.



Participates in committees
and other activities of the social work department.



Attends Social Work and
Counseling Department staff meetings and meets all responsibilities related to
the social work department.



Observes all hospital
policies, rules and regulations.



May provide clinical
supervision and/or consultation to social work/counseling staff, master’s
students and other trainees or staff as arranged with the manager.



May participates in the MSW/LMHC
training program and in providing staff development as arranged with the Manager
of Social Work and Counseling.



May implement other
administrative teaching and training functions as delegated and agreed upon by
Program Chief and Social Work and Counseling Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:



Masters Degree from an
accredited school of social work or related field and must be a RI Licensed
Social Worker (LCSW), a RI Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW), a RI
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or RI Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist (LMFT).



Demonstrated knowledge and
skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with
consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural
patterns in each step of the care process.



EXPERIENCE:



For general social work/counseling
privileges; must have relevant clinical experience and have RI license (LCSW,
LMHC, LMFT)



For independent clinical
privileges: must have four years post masters experience and have RI
LICSW/LMHC/LMFT. Experience in a clinical
setting with children, adolescents and families. Experience supervising clinical social workers
preferred. Eligibility for privileging in three of the five areas of
independent practice. Recommendation of immediate supervisor and program
director.





WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:



Works in a normal office
environment with exposure to patient care.



INDEPENDENT ACTION:



Performs independently within
department policies and practices.
Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of
departmental policies and procedures may be required.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:



May supervise MSW/LMHC
Interns commensurate with experience.

Pay Range:

$61,422.40-$101,337.60
