Description

Due to growth, we are adding a Corporate Controller to our team in Houston. In this role, you will serve as the senior financial leader for Satterfield & Pontikes' self-perform and subsidiary brands. You will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, equipment cost accounting, and accounting team development across multiple entities while partnering closely with the CFO to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and strategic value of all subsidiary financial operations. The ideal candidate will have significant accounting leadership experience within a commercial subcontracting environment and a strong understanding of equipment-intensive operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide full financial oversight for S&P's subsidiary and self-perform entities
  • Establish, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across all subsidiary operations
  • Lead the onboarding and financial integration of mergers and acquisitions, including developing accounting infrastructure for newly acquired entities
  • Drive implementation and optimization of the equipment module within Viewpoint ERP
  • Develop reporting frameworks for equipment-related revenue, utilization, maintenance costs, and operational performance
  • Manage equipment cost accounting, including depreciation schedules, job costing rates, capital expenditures, maintenance expenses, and fleet utilization reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for subsidiary entities
  • Present financial results, analysis, and recommendations to the CFO and executive leadership team
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing subsidiary accounting team
  • Establish succession planning and professional development strategies within the accounting function
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to ensure financial reporting supports project-level and company-level decision-making
  • Partner with the IT team to maintain ERP system integrity, financial records, and reporting processes
  • Ensure all accounting practices comply with GAAP, legal requirements, and company standards
  • Support strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational performance initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
  • Ten or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Significant experience serving as a Controller or in an equivalent financial leadership role
  • Strong background in commercial subcontracting, preferably within mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), or other equipment-intensive industries
  • Extensive knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting best practices
  • Experience with equipment cost accounting, fleet management reporting, and asset management
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial compliance requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Viewpoint
