Industrial Electrician

Position Summary

Nexteel Saha, LLC is seeking a skilled and dependable Industrial Electrician to support the safe, reliable operation of our OCTG steel pipe manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and control systems used throughout the production operation.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on electrical maintenance experience in a steel mill, pipe mill, heavy manufacturing, or similar industrial environment. Candidates must be comfortable working with electrical systems ranging from 120V through 480V, three-phase power, industrial motors, motor controls, and automated production equipment.

This position requires the ability to work either day or night shifts, including overtime, weekends, and emergency callouts when production needs require additional support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain industrial electrical systems ranging from 120V through 480V.
  
• Diagnose electrical problems affecting production machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, cranes, compressors, and material-handling equipment.
  
• Install and troubleshoot three-phase motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, and control panels.
  
• Troubleshoot variable-frequency drives, soft starters, encoders, sensors, limit switches, proximity switches, and other industrial control devices.
  
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
  
• Diagnose electrical problems involving PLC-controlled production equipment and industrial automation systems.
  
• Use multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment safely and accurately.
  
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  
• Install and repair conduit, raceways, cable trays, junction boxes, electrical panels, wiring, and related components.
  
• Troubleshoot production-line electrical failures and restore equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  
• Inspect electrical equipment for overheating, loose connections, damaged wiring, grounding problems, and other unsafe conditions.
  
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of overhead cranes, hoists, compressors, HVAC equipment, pumps, and facility systems.
  
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
  
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts used, and preventive-maintenance activities.
  
• Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective or reliability improvements.
  
• Maintain electrical panels, maintenance areas, tools, and replacement parts in an orderly condition.
  
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, safety, contractors, and management regarding electrical repairs and equipment status.
  
• Follow all company safety rules and applicable electrical codes.
  
• Perform other maintenance duties within the employee’s training and qualifications.
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
  
• At least three years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems from 120V through 480V.
  
• Experience working with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
  
• Working knowledge of motors, motor controls, transformers, relays, contactors, breakers, disconnects, and industrial control circuits.
  
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot equipment systematically.
  
• Familiarity with PLC inputs, outputs, and basic PLC-controlled equipment troubleshooting.
  
• Knowledge of electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc-flash hazards, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to production emergencies.
  
• Ability to communicate clearly with production employees, supervisors, contractors, and other maintenance personnel.
  
• Ability to work day or night shifts, overtime, weekends, and emergency callouts as needed.
  
• Must provide or maintain the basic personal hand tools required for the position, subject to company policy.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Five or more years of electrical maintenance experience in a steel mill, pipe mill, OCTG facility, heavy manufacturing plant, or similar industrial environment.
  
• Texas Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent recognized electrical credential.
  
• NCCER Industrial Electrician certification.
  
• NFPA 70E electrical-safety or qualified electrical-worker training.
  
• OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, particularly Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems.
  
• Experience with variable-frequency drives, HMIs, industrial networks, sensors, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  
• Experience maintaining overhead cranes, hoists, welding equipment, compressors, hydraulic systems, and production-line machinery.
  
• Experience with infrared electrical inspections or predictive-maintenance programs.
  
• CPR, First Aid, or AED certification.
  

Safety Responsibilities

The Industrial Electrician must:

• Follow Nexteel Saha’s lockout/tagout and electrical-safety procedures.
  
• Verify zero-energy conditions before beginning applicable work.
  
• Use voltage-rated tools, meters, gloves, arc-rated clothing, and other required PPE.
  
• Follow established energized-work restrictions and authorization procedures.
  
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, electrical hazards, and near misses.
  
• Maintain safe clearances around electrical panels and equipment.
  
• Never bypass safety devices or equipment protections without proper authorization.
  
• Participate in required safety meetings, inspections, and training.
  

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This position operates in an active steel manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, oil, moving machinery, and outdoor weather conditions.

The employee must be able to:

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or elevated areas.
  
• Safely climb ladders and access production equipment.
  
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  
• Work around operating machinery and high-noise areas while wearing required PPE.
  
• Distinguish wiring colors, equipment markings, warning indicators, and electrical components.
  
• Work safely at heights when properly trained and protected.
  
• Remain available for extended shifts or emergency repairs when operationally necessary.
  

Schedule Expectations

Nexteel Saha operates across day and night production schedules. The selected candidate must be willing and able to work an assigned day or night shift. Shift assignments may change based on operational requirements. Overtime, weekend work, and occasional emergency callouts may be required.
