Description

Satterfield & Pontikes is seeking a Project Engineer I / Field Engineer I (2026 Graduate) to join our San Antonio team. This opportunity is designed for current Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, and related student graduating in 2026 who is seeking a full-time career in construction. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting project execution through documentation, coordination, quality assurance, scheduling, procurement, and field operations while working alongside experienced construction professionals. This position is designed to build a strong foundation in construction management and prepare you for long-term career growth within the organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with monthly CPM schedule updates and schedule narratives
  • Review and process submittals to support project schedules and contract compliance
  • Maintain accurate submittal logs, including approvals, revisions, and resubmittals
  • Expedite material deliveries by coordinating with subcontractors and vendors
  • Verify materials for quantity, quality, and compliance with approved submittals
  • Participate in the Request for Information (RFI) process and maintain current drawing sets
  • Attend and participate in subcontractor preconstruction meetings
  • Support project safety planning and actively participate in the Safety Observation System (SOS) Program
  • Assist with implementation of the S&P Quality Control Program
  • Support cost control efforts by managing assigned budgets and tracking project expenses
  • Gather and compile data for monthly owner and subcontractor pay applications
  • Assist with field purchasing activities and production analysis studies
  • Support project closeout activities in accordance with contract requirements and company standards
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field, or graduation anticipated in Fall 2026.
  • Previous construction experience and/or internship experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow within the construction industry
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications preferred


Physical Activities and Requirements

  • Regular walking, standing, and movement throughout active construction sites
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of a construction site in varying weather and jobsite conditions
  • Frequent climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, stretching, and other physical activities associated with field operations
  • Occasional office-based work and computer usage
  • Occasional lifting of 50 pounds or more
  • Strong manual dexterity for operating computers, mobile devices, and standard office equipment
