The John Deere Turf & Compact Tractor/Construction Technician will work on turf, compact tractors, compact construction equipment, and a variety of other equipment, such as STIHL products. We are looking for a dedicated employee with excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to help deliver top notch service as an equipment technician to our rapidly growing customer base.

  1. Diagnose and repair equipment, including lawn mowers, UTVs, skid steers, compact tractors, telehandlers, aerial lifts, mini hydraulic excavators, multi-terrain loaders, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, among other light and medium equipment
  2. Document labor, addition of segments, machine information, and repairs completed on work order, including parts and fluids used, assuring that the work order can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer in a timely manner
  3. Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the service manager/CSA
  4. Utilize technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and software to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  5. Collaborate effectively with team members, including service advisors and parts department personnel, to streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction
  6. Participate in formal trainings, company/location-driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts
  7. Provides assistance to all technicians/service team as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
  8. Maintain technical and product knowledge of John Deere and other equipment sold within the dealership
  9. Assists in the preparation and repair of used & new equipment for rent or sale
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment
  11. Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations of repair procedures and addressing any concerns or questions they may have
  12. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by actively seeking feedback and implementing best practices in service delivery
  13. Stay updated on the latest developments in small engine and compact tractor technology through training and professional development opportunities
  14. Maintain a clean and organized work area, and clean and organize all shop tools, machines, and equipment
  15. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
  16. Conduct oneself in the presence of customers and the community to present a professional image of True North Equipment
  17. Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

  1. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing machinery
  2. Proven experience working as a technician in the agricultural or equipment industry, with specific expertise in servicing small engines and compact tractors
  3. 2-year technical degree in diesel, or small engines, or high school diploma/GED, and several years of comparable shop mechanic experience
  4. 2+ years of relevant small engine/diesel equipment repair experience preferred
  5. Familiarity with John Deere equipment and systems is highly desirable
  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also functioning effectively as part of a team
  7. Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment
  8. Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  9. Strong computer skills
  10. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues
  11. Excellent customer service skills
  12. Must be able to work TNE service department hours as scheduled to include seasonal hours and seasonal Saturdays, and keep reliable attendance
  13. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required to drive company-owned vehicles
  14. Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
  15. Understands and adheres to TNE customer data policies and procedures
  16. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources
  17. Conduct oneself in the presence of customers and the community to present a professional image of True North Equipment
  18. Ensure that the company’s reputation and image in the community are consistent with TNE values
  19. Normal hours worked are Mon-Fri 8 am-5 pm in our off-season. Seasonal hours worked are Mon-Fri 730am-530pm and every other Saturday 730am-12 pm, with the ability to flex up seasonally.
