Summary of job contents

The Head of OPEX is responsible for the local establishment and further development as well as implemention of an integrated value stream-based organization taking into account the defined lean principles and the existing production system.  

 

 

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for enabling the organization to achieve cost and cash savings at plant level
  • Responsible for the career path of the local OPEX Orga in cooperation with HR
  • Responsible for the qualification within the organization for OPEX in cooperation with HR (training)
  • Responsible for the development of a local, integrated OPEX KPI system (monitoring)
  • Responsible for the development and standardization of the Festo value production system at local level (standards)
  • Consulting function of plant management team in consideration of the operational excellence strategy
  • Member of the plant management team
  • Regular coordination with the various internal interest groups (e. g. plant management team; value stream manager, department head, etc.) with partly divergent interests
  • Member of the plant management team
  • Rarely external speeches at customers, suppliers, universities, etc. (external representation of the company)
  • Responsible for the further development of the production system at plant level (human and system side)
  • Development, optimization and application of methods with the focus on establishing a value stream oriented organization according to the production system
  • Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of core work processes for the realization of maturity levels of plant supply chain organization (OPEX assessment)
  • Establishment and implementation of framework conditions that enable and encourage the organization for cultural changes (goal: establishment of a learning organization) => Change Manager
  • Enabling an agile operating organization that, for example, reacts autonomously according to the PDAC cycle and develops and implements correct solutions
  • Qualification and training of the entire plant level OPEX (Source / Make / Deliver / Plan)
  • Professional leadership of executives, specialists and teams at local level
  • Leadership in  matrix of all OPEX employees
  • Disciplinary leadership of the local OPEX team

Knowledge and Experience

Technical studies with focus on management & production engineering

  • Technical degree (BS) with a focus on management & production engineering
  • Strong OPEX / Lean knowledge on an international level
  • Managerial experience
  • Intercultural knowledge/competence
  • Fluent in English
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • OPEX experience at plant level with verified cost & cash savings
