Job Summary: As a Courtesy Clerk, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a clean and organized store environment. Your role involves assisting customers with bagging groceries, retrieving carts, and maintaining cleanliness in the store. Join us in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for our customers to enjoy their shopping experience. 

 

Examples of Duties: 

  • Greet customers with a friendly smile and offer assistance as needed. 

  • Bag groceries for customers, ensuring items are packed carefully and efficiently. 

  • Assist customers by taking their groceries out to their car. 

  • Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to the store. 

  • Assist customers with locating products and answering inquiries about store services. 

  • Maintain cleanliness in the store, including sweeping floors, wiping down surfaces, and emptying trash bins and cleaning bathrooms. 

  • Assist with stocking shelves and replenishing inventory as needed. 

  • Assist in maintaining order and safety in the store, including monitoring for spills and hazards. 

  • Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to customer service and safety. 

  • Perform any other duties as designated by your department manager. 

 

Knowledge: 

  • Basic knowledge of grocery store layout and product locations. 

  • Familiarity with customer service principles and practices. 

  • Understanding of safety procedures and protocols. 

Skills: 

  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with customers in a courteous and helpful manner. 

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in bagging groceries and maintaining cleanliness in the store. 

  • Organization: Skill in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and pushing carts. 

Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in a customer service or retail environment is preferred but not required. 

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull heavy carts. 

  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to assist others. 

  • Consistent and reliable attendance of your scheduled shifts.
