Hazelett Corporation is a global leader in continuous metal casting technology. Our strip-casting machines integrate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and automation systems to produce materials used in automotive structural components, aluminum foil, lead-acid batteries, and copper wiring. Our machines are known for their robust design, high productivity, and energy efficiency. We design, manufacture, and assemble our machines in-house and are committed to fostering the development and long-term growth of our employees.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer / CAD Technician who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. The ideal candidate is innovative, collaborative, and comfortable contributing to a multidisciplinary engineering environment. You will work closely with engineers to create and revise technical drawings, 3D models, and detailed assemblies—ranging from simple machined parts to complex fabricated structures.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using CAD tools, primarily SolidWorks.
  • Generate bills of material, schematics, and other associated documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute creative engineering solutions.
  • Check and review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Research and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Coordinate with suppliers on component specifications and selection.
  • Support prototype builds and testing to validate design concepts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and R&D initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, and drawings).
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, standard drafting conventions, and machine design principles.
  • Familiarity with structures, materials, welded/joined assemblies, rotating equipment, and hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate with coworkers, customers, and suppliers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or GED with relevant experience, OR
  • A.S. in Mechanical Technology (preferred).
  • 5-10 years’ experience with SolidWorks.
  • Willing to train the right candidate.

The base pay range for this full-time position is $26 - $42 per hour. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
