Role and Responsibilities

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager for Malta and dotted to the Finance Head of the Business Unit, the candidate will manage a indicative size team and he/she will:

 

  • in general, ensure compliance with Group´s financial policies and procedures as well as with local regulation in relation with financial, accounting and fiscal matters
  • be accountable for the timely and adequate preparation of the Financial reporting of the entities within his/her scope for both Group´s and local statutory´s purposes, ensuring that the appropriate financial controls are taking place effectively
  • be accountable for and will coordinate the external audit process of the entities within his/her scope for both Group´s and local statutory´s purposes
  • be accountable for the preparation and submission of the financial budgets / forecasts of the entities within his/her scope, interacting with different stakeholders and in alignment with the General Manager
  • be accountable for the follow up, analysis and reporting of the financial business performance of the entities within his/her scope, interacting with different stakeholders and proposing corrective actions for any business related issues / challenges identified affecting the financial performance
  • be accountable for cash / liquidity management at entity level following Global / Regional guidelines, including the recurrent preparation of cash forecasts
  • be accountable for ensuring that the trade and non-trade liabilities of the entities within his/her scope are settled on a timely basis
  • liaise with the Global Shared Services to ensure that the level of the services rendered to the entities within his/her scope allow for the candidate to complete the activities that he/she is accountable for
  • be accountable for the timely filing and settlement of the applicable tax returns
  • coordinate the relationship with external accounting auditors, tax advisors or tax auditors, following the guidelines set at Global / Regional levels
  • coordinate insurance related to the local policies, following the guidelines set at Global level

 

We are looking for a candidate with this profile:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Proven experience of a minimum of 7-10 years in senior positions with similar responsibilities to the ones described before, preferably in companies within the Retail sector or Audit firms for Retail companies
  • IFRS / Local GAAP
  • Fluent in English is a must
  • Experienced in the use of Financial Reporting tools, preferably in SAP Central Finance / SAP Group Reporting or SAP BPC
  • Advanced user of SAP R/3
  • Advanced level in Excel / Powerpoint
  • Previous experience in financial modelling, including cash flow related, would be a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, assertiveness, resilience and positive attitude
  • Used to work in a context of very tight deadlines
  • Good communicator / team-worker / willing to delegate
