Our client is looking for an Internal Systems Developer to join their growing team in Malta. This is a hands-on role focused on developing, maintaining and improving internal software systems, business applications and digital processes across the organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with different departments to understand operational requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions. The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys solving real business problems through development, automation and system improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and enhance internal software applications and business systems.

  • Design, test and implement new digital tools, applications and workflows.

  • Support external projects requiring software development or technical intervention, including interaction with associated hardware where required.

  • Troubleshoot software and system issues and provide technical support to internal users.

  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal platforms, databases and third-party applications.

  • Write clean, reliable and well-documented code.

  • Identify opportunities to use AI and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to improve business processes and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain and improve databases, reports and automated processes.

  • Work closely with different departments to understand business requirements and propose effective technical solutions.

  • Support data accuracy, system performance and overall process efficiency.

  • Contribute to cybersecurity, data protection and system reliability initiatives.

  • Monitor application and system performance and resolve bugs, errors and data-flow issues.

  • Prepare technical documentation, user guides and system documentation where required.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and digitalisation of internal systems and processes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in software development, IT systems, business applications or process automation.

  • Strong understanding of software development principles and programming languages.

  • Good knowledge of databases, SQL and data management.

  • Basic understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) systems and reporting tools.

  • Good understanding of web applications, APIs and system integrations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks and projects through to completion.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection practices.

  • Experience with ERP or CRM systems.

  • Experience with reporting and BI tools.

  • Exposure to AI, RPA or business process automation.

  • Experience working with systems involving both software and hardware components.

  • Previous exposure to healthcare, pharmaceutical, distribution or similar business environments would be considered an advantage.
