Job DetailsJob Location: MANCHESTER, IA 52057Position Type: Full TimeCustodian Hours 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM  Every other weekend and holidays Job Summary Performs a variety of general housekeeping/cleaning duties to provide quality environmental service and to maintain the nursing center in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Resident Rights Knows and respects patient rights. Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential. Reports all complaints made by patients to supervisor. Reports all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of patient properly. Safety and Sanitation Follows established safety policies and procedures. Observes safety needs of patient as indicated in care plan. Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use. Demonstrates job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations. Staff Development Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings. Laundry/Housekeeping Responsibilities Maintains equipment used in performing duties. Brushes spillage from floor into drain. Assists H/L & Maintenance with cleaning schedules as outlined in their schedule’s ie. offices, handicap and visitors restrooms, activity room, kitchen restroom, service entrance and therapy room, entrances and exits, utility areas, closets, lounges, lobbies, halls, etc; Performs emergency housekeeping. Cleans, dusts, washes and disinfects all fixtures, floors, and walls, doors and ceilings, as directed; Scours and polishes water fountains, sinks, mirrors, glass panels in door and partitions, brass, and movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; Changes slip covers, scarves, doilies, etc. when soiled and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; Cleans ledges, shelves, vents, windows, window sills, etc.; Removes and re-hangs curtains, drapes, and dividers for cleaning, when needed; Replenishes supply of soap and towels in appropriate receptacles. Empties and cleans wastebaskets/kitchen garbage’s, recyclables and over areas with disposable receptacle’s. Works jointly with maintenance personnel to service floors, all patient rooms, baths, lounges, nurses stations, and offices as assigned. Performs terminal cleaning duties according to established procedure in patient rooms when patient has been discharged or transferred and prepare rooms for new occupants. Snow removal, yard prep, general exterior maintenance.  •    Vacuums and shampoos carpeting and rugs. •    Maintains order in supply room by cleaning lockers and equipment and arranging supplies. •    Maintains equipment used in performing housekeeping duties. •    Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required. QualificationsEducation High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and understand directions Experience Previous maintenance/housekeeping/laundry/floor care experience preferred. Physical Demands Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling. Working Conditions Inside with exposure to noise and vibration, heat, and temperature, wet and humid conditions, and considerable exposure to disagreeable conditions including odor and infection Principal Contacts Receives assignments from supervisor and has frequent contact with patients, center guests, and other housekeeping/laundry aides. General Requirements Must be able to execute the terms and conditions set forth in the Good Neighbor Society Handbook, including, but not limited to: Works in a safety-conscious manner, which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safely violations or hazards to supervisor. Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations. Adheres to policy on Drug-Free Workplace Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
