Maintenance Technician

We’re looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician who takes pride in providing reliable, preventative, and ongoing maintenance to ensure the safety and functionality of our buildings and grounds.

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play an essential role in the upkeep of our facility. Your work will impact not only the infrastructure but also the experience of students and staff who rely on a well-maintained space. This role offers a blend of hands-on technical tasks and opportunities to supervise and mentor, making it both varied and rewarding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on facility and building systems.
  • Inspect work done by other maintenance personnel to ensure quality standards.
  • Research and recommend equipment purchases as needed to maintain efficiency and safety.
  • Oversee training activities for maintenance students and monitor work-based learning assignments.
  • Supervise and coordinate with outside contractors to ensure proper execution of repair or replacement jobs.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of building systems and equipment to maintain operational standards.
  • Coordinate with vocational training programs when applicable.
  • Complete work orders promptly and maintain high-quality workmanship.
  • Provide transportation support for students as necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Mentor students by modeling career success standards, promoting respect, and accountability.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, students, and management, offering constructive ideas and solutions.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to enhance student support and facility operations.
  • Accepts additional duties and direction from leadership as needed.

Qualifications


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • At least one year of experience in building maintenance.
  • Technical certificates and working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, boilers, and other building systems preferred.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting (up to 40 pounds or more with assistance), pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
