Registered Nurse- Adult Step Down Unit

Who We Are:

Elliot Health System is excited to share the opening of a new Adult Stepdown Unit (ASDU). It is a 12-bed unit with private rooms incorporating aspects from our Intensive Care Unit that improve nursing satisfaction such as: ceiling lifts to assist with safe patient movement and supply carts in every room to streamline care. The unit will have substantial telemetry monitoring and a medication room to promote safe patient care.

About the Job:

The ASDU will care for patient ‘s with an acutely ill, moderately complex, medical, surgical, cardiac, trauma, and psychiatric diagnosis, requiring close nursing observation assessment, intervention, or monitoring. The standard nurse to patient ratio for the ADSU is 1:3.

Nursing care is provided in accordance with the standards established by the American Nurses Association, and it is guided by a patient and family centered care delivery model of care. The American Association of Critical Care Nurses guide critical and progressive care nursing practices.

Admission to the Adult Stepdown Unit will be managed by either the Critical Care Medicine Service or the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Service.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience. Telemetry with management of dysrhythmia preferred.
  • Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required.
  • Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment. ACLS preferred.
  • Professional Certification: Nurses are expected to pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering the specialty practice.
  • Software/ Hardware: Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems
