Job Summary
The Sous Chef supports the Food & Nutrition Services departments for two hospital campuses (249 and 102 licensed beds) and ensures high‑quality culinary service across patient dining, retail operations, and catering. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, consistent, and patient‑centered food service that aligns with healthcare standards.
The Sous Chef contributes to:

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with cost control, budget oversight, and monitoring food and supply expenditures.
- Support menu planning and development for patient, retail, and catering services.
- Execute and oversee catering functions across both campuses.
- Assist with developing, testing, and implementing new culinary programs in partnership with the corporate culinary and marketing teams.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, including HACCP and healthcare regulatory expectations.
- Support high‑volume production and ensure consistent quality across all service areas.
- Provide daily leadership to kitchen staff, contributing to training, workflow efficiency, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- A.S. degree in culinary arts or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience; healthcare or institutional cooking experience preferred.
- High‑volume operations experience strongly desired.
- Catering production experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, cost controls, and batch cooking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and general computer applications.
- Willingness to participate in patient satisfaction and quality improvement initiatives.
- ServSafe® certification highly desirable.
