Job Overview Summary

The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining and managing the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems, ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers, storage, and network components to support the operations of a security-focused organization. The Systems Administrator works closely with IT teams to uphold security protocols, compliance standards, and industry best practices in a highly regulated environment.

What you’ll be doing (and doing well!):

  • Server & Network Management: Install, configure, monitor, and maintain servers, storage, and network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • System Security & Compliance: Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems, to safeguard the organization’s infrastructure and comply with industry regulations.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop and manage backup, recovery, and continuity plans to ensure data integrity and quick recovery in the event of system failures.
  • System Monitoring & Optimization: Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential issues, optimizing system performance and preventing downtime.
  • User Access & Permissions Management: Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies in alignment with security standards, ensuring data access control and compliance.
  • Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Respond to and resolve escalated technical issues and incidents, conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Software & Patch Management: Ensure timely updates, patches, and upgrades for all systems, managing software lifecycles to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Network Security: Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network security systems, including VPNs, firewalls, and proxy servers, to protect the organization’s IT environment.
  • Documentation & SOP Development: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline IT processes.
  • Collaboration with IT & Security Teams: Work closely with IT support, security, and compliance teams to align system management practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

What we Like about you:

  • A Sense of humor, creativity, and positive attitude.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or euivalenet experience
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in systems administration or a related role, preferably within the security industry or a highly regulated environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux server environments, Active Directory, and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with network security tools (e.g., firewalls, VPNs) and endpoint security measures.
