Job Description

Participates collaboratively in various research projects and performs investigative research in a particular area(s) of study. May be a coauthor on a publication or a presentation.

A Research Assistant is needed in the Pediatric Sepsis Laboratory at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical research in the Pediatric Critical Care department of Northwell Health associated with Cohen Children’s Medical Center. The Research Assistant will assist in investigation of immune responses in pediatric sepsis and critical illness.

The position will assist in basic and translational science work, performing assays and experiments. Assays will include ELISA and flow cytometry.  The position will also involve animal handling. The Research Assistant will work collaboratively in various research projects and performs investigative research in a particular area(s) of study. May be a coauthor on publications or presentations.

Job Responsibility

 

•Performs research and/or development work under the guidance of an investigator,
associate investigator or assistant investigator.
•Follows and adheres to experimental protocols in a proficient and meticulous
manner.
•Provides guidance in research techniques to other lab personnel.
•Performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, completing
correspondence, database maintenance, maintaining records, charts, etc.
•Responsible for the collection of data and may assist with analysis.
•Participates in laboratory meetings and journal clubs as appropriate.
•Learns new experimental procedures as necessary.
•Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered

Job Qualification

 

•Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

  • Experience working with cytometry preferred
  • Comfort working with small animals, preferred
