Position SummaryĀ
The Apprentice Roofer supports commercial roofing crews with installation, repair, maintenance, and jobsite support activities, like site cleanup,Ā while developing trade skills through handsĀ on training. This role focuses on safety,Ā reliability, andĀ workmanship fundamentals.Ā Ā
KeyĀ ResponsibilitiesĀ
- Professional Representation (Clock-In to Clock-Out)Ā
- Represents the company at all timesĀ while on the clock; maintains professionalism fromĀ clock-in to clock-outĀ (appearance, language, behavior, and customer interaction).Ā
- Maintains a clean jobsite presence at customersā facilities, suppliers, and public areas during travel and breaks.Ā
- Treats customers, administrationĀ and teammates with respect and professionalism.Ā
- Safety (Non-Negotiable)Ā
- Uses required PPE and follows all fall protection rules 100% of the time when exposure exists.Ā
- Assists with safe setup and teardown: ladder staging, controlled drop zones, cones, and housekeeping.Ā
- Follows safe tool handling practices (knives, fasteners, drills, heatĀ welders andĀ torchesĀ where applicable) and maintains awareness of hazards (skylights, edges, overhead lines, weather).Ā
- Immediately reports unsafe conditions, near-misses, or damaged equipment to the Leadman/Foreman.Ā
- Roofing Support & Skill DevelopmentĀ Ā
- Assists with material staging, loading/unloading, rooftop organization, and debris control.Ā
- Learns and performs basic tasks under supervision: surface prep, cleaning, priming, simple patch prep, fastener/plate handling, walkway pad support, and detail assistance.Ā
- Follows work instructions and manufacturer requirements as directed.Ā
- Quality SupportĀ
- Executes assigned tasks to standard and asks for verification on critical details before the crew moves forward.Ā
- Maintains a ādo it right the first timeā mindsetĀ no shortcuts, no hidden defects, no leaving an incomplete or low-confidence condition.Ā
Documentation SupportĀ Ā
- Supports the Leadman/Foreman with accurate information needed for closeout and documentation.Ā
Ā
Job RequirementsĀ
RequiredĀ
- Ability to work safely at heights and in varying weather conditions on commercial job sites.Ā
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to learn and accept coaching.Ā Ā
- Ability to lift/carry roofing materials and tools (commonly 50+Ā lbs) and perform physical work throughout the shift.Ā
- Basic tool awareness and ability to follow instructions and jobsite rules.Ā
- Valid driverās license and reliable transportation.Ā
PreferredĀ
- Prior construction or roofing exposureĀ Ā
- OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe).Ā
- Comfort working in occupied facilities (professional demeanor, cleanliness, customer awareness).Ā
