A well-established manufacturer of innovative consumer electrical and electronic products is seeking a Manager of Electrical Engineering to lead a team responsible for developing high-quality, cost-effective products from concept through launch. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader with strong experience in electrical/electronic product design who also has the ability to guide technical teams, manage complex development projects, and drive innovation across cross-functional engineering and manufacturing groups.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineering professionals working on multiple product development initiatives.

  • Oversee the design and development of electrical and electronic systems for consumer products, ensuring alignment with product strategies and performance requirements.

  • Manage projects from concept through product launch, including planning milestones, reviewing assignments, and ensuring projects meet schedule, cost, and quality targets.

  • Provide technical leadership and direct engineering input on electrical design, circuit development, testing, and evaluation.

  • Drive innovation by researching and integrating new technologies, design methods, and best practices into product development efforts.

  • Review engineering designs and development activities to ensure compliance with standards, guidelines, and product specifications.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and product management to ensure seamless product integration and manufacturability.

  • Allocate engineering resources across projects and plan for future growth and development initiatives.

  • Evaluate and recommend engineering improvements to equipment, processes, and product designs to maximize performance and efficiency.

  • Work with external vendors and partners on contracted development work when needed.

  • Manage departmental budgets and contribute to strategic planning and operational improvements.

  • Support hiring, coaching, performance development, and leadership of engineering staff in partnership with HR.

Experience you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.

  • Approximately 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership of complex product design and development projects.

  • Proven experience designing, evaluating, and testing electrical or electronic circuits and components.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams while delivering successful product development outcomes.

  • Strong track record leading projects from concept through commercialization.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering and manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of product design considerations including materials, plastics, polymers, metals, injection molding, die casting, stamping, and mechanical assembly methods.

  • Understanding of product cost drivers, manufacturing processes, and their impact on product margins and operational performance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly and influence diverse teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering analysis, simulation, and design tools.
