About the Role:

The Mobile Equipment Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation for both customers and internal use. This position performs advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance in both shop and field environments.

In addition, this role serves as a technical leader by mentoring and supporting junior technicians while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled, self-motivated, and committed to safety, efficiency, and delivering service that exceeds expectations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform advanced repairs and maintenance on aerial and dirt equipment with minimal supervision
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools (multimeters, code scanners, etc.)
  • Provide field service support, including customer jobsite repairs and occasional equipment retrieval
  • Mentor and assist in training junior technicians to support team development
  • Order parts, manage work orders, and track repair progress accurately
  • Communicate effectively with the Service Manager and customers regarding repairs and timelines
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support overall service operations and perform additional duties as assigned

Education, Skills & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proven experience as a mechanic (heavy equipment, diesel, or related field preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and mechanical systems
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Medical Card Required
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work in both indoor shop and outdoor field environments
  • Preferred: Vocational/technical certification, welding experience, or HVAC knowledge

Work Environment:

This role operates in both shop and field environments, including customer job sites. The position involves exposure to varying weather conditions and equipment-related materials such as diesel fuel and other chemicals. The work requires physical activity including lifting, standing, bending, and working in demanding environments, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and professionalism.
