This role requires daily travel within the vicinity of Manteo/Outer Banks - you must be living in or willing to move to this area.
Pay and Perks
- Commissions - this role pays commissions based on the sales you generate plus a temporary stipend while building up your territory.Â
- Mileage and Cell Phone reimbursement - this role is eligible for mileage and cell phone reimbursement for business use administrated through a third-party service.
Role overview
As an On/Off Premise Sales Representative at Tryon, you’re not just selling our portfolio, you’re building meaningful partnerships at the crossroads of where great beverages are discovered and where they’re enjoyed. Representing our brands in bars, restaurants, retail chains, and more, you’ll use your sales expertise and high caliber customer service to increase sales volume, expand distribution, and promote our expertly curated portfolio. With a passion for craftmanship, your work ensures that whether someone orders a pour at their favorite spot or picks up a bottle on their weekly run, they meet our products at their best.
Duties and responsibilities
- Service a mix of on‑premise and off‑premise accounts on a set route as written
- Initiate, negotiate, and close sales with restaurants, bars, venues, chains, and specialty retailers
- Merchandise shelves and cold boxes to ensure they are fully stocked and visually appealing
- Build and maintain branded displays that support sales goals and seasonal programs
- Troubleshoot customer issues and provide prompt, professional resolutionÂ
- Communicate with customers regarding pricing, shipping dates, and any anticipated delays
- Enter orders within required timelines and process credits accuratelyÂ
- Conduct regular presentations for buyers, featuring new products, goal items, and promotional programsÂ
- Host or support in‑store tastings and other events to drive product education and sales in accounts on your route
- Deliver products when needed to maintain service levelsÂ
- Educate accounts on our portfolio, brand stories, and category knowledgeÂ
- Work evenings and nights as needed within the assigned territory
- Attend all required sales meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Must be 21 or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Excellent customer service skills
- Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task with minimal errors
- Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision
- Knowledge of safe work practices
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Word
PREFERRED
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous sales, merchandising, or pull-up experience
- Previous food service or distribution experience
- Intimate knowledge of wine, beer, or the Tryon portfolio
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Previous experience using ERP systems (Encompass preferred)
Working conditions
- This position requires one’s use of personal vehicle to call on customers. This position will primarily work in the assigned territory in the designated market.Â
- Significant daily travel within territory
Physical requirements
- Must be able to safely lift up to 60 lbs. occasionally (1-10 loads per hour).
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, climb, squat, reach, stretch, lift, and perform fine and gross motor skills occasionally (1-4 hours per day).
- Must be able to safely operate a vehicle occasionally (1-4 hours per day).
