Marana Health is seeking a Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. 

The Pharmacist promotes and restores patient health by accurately dispensing medications, evaluating medication therapies for safety and effectiveness, providing patient education, and collaborating with providers and other members of the healthcare team. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies while supporting safe, high-quality patient care and positive clinical outcomes.

 

Marana Health is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 11 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare.

 

The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD.) from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Current Arizona Registered Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be obtained through MH upon hire).
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MH)

 

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • 340b Experience
  • Experience as a Pharmacist in a Clinical/Hospital setting
  • Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

 

This position has the following supervisory responsibilities:

Does not supervise others.

 

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and Arizona pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication management, and inventory control.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and implement performance improvements.
  • Knowledge of patient safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dispenses medications accurately in accordance with provider orders, applicable laws, and professional standards of practice.
  • Reviews prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and therapeutic duplication, consulting with providers as needed to resolve concerns.
  • Provides medication counseling and education to patients, promoting safe and effective medication use while answering questions regarding prescribed therapies.
  • Collaborates with providers and other members of the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy and support positive patient outcomes.
  • Identifies medication-related problems, recommends therapeutic alternatives or interventions when appropriate, and follows through on approved recommendations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records in accordance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, medication safety activities, audits, and performance improvement efforts.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate medication inventory by monitoring stock levels, identifying shortages or expired medications, and communicating supply needs to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Supports controlled substance accountability by following established procedures for storage, dispensing, documentation, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Ensures the security, accountability, and accurate inventory of controlled medications through ongoing monitoring, auditing, and compliance with DEA and Arizona Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintains infection prevention, medication storage, and workplace safety standards.
  • Protects patient privacy by maintaining the confidentiality of patient, employee, and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Answers telephone calls and responds to patient, provider, and staff inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participates in staff meetings, required training, and continuing education to maintain competency and licensure requirements.
  • Supports organizational initiatives and demonstrates Marana Health's ICARE values in daily interactions with patients, providers, and coworkers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
